·         ISTH Reach-the-World Fellowship Application Deadline Extended to January 31, 2015

Don’t miss this excellent opportunity! The ISTH Reach-the-World Fellowship Program gives junior clinicians and researchers from developing countries the opportunity to study at host institutes known for their expertise in thrombosis and hemostasis. The program aims to promote knowledge and expertise in one or all of the areas of medical care, laboratory methods and/or research. As part of the program, the ISTH provides fellows with financial support for travel, accommodation and living expenses for a fellowship period of up to four months.

 

Who can apply? Applicants must be: an M.D., Ph.D., 39 years old or younger, an ISTH member, able to read, write and speak in English or in the primary language used at the host institute and from an academic institute in a developing country not affiliated with a commercial pharma or other biomedical company. ·         Register, Submit an Abstract and Plan to Attend ISTH 2015 in Toronto, Canada, June 20 – 25

The ISTH invites you to make plans to attend the 61st Annual SSC Meeting and 2015 ISTH Congress from June 20 – 25, 2015, in Toronto, Canada. In addition to registration, which is now open online at www.isth2015.org, please submit all Abstracts by February 4, 2015. At the ISTH 2015 Congress, thousands of the world’s leading experts on thrombosis, hemostasis and vascular biology come together to present the most recent advances, exchange the latest science and discuss the newest clinical applications designed to improve patient care. Through an extensive lineup of educational sessions, poster and oral communications, state-of-the-art lectures, medical industry exhibits and professional networking opportunities, the Congress will promote important scientific discourse and advancement. The ISTH Academy, the online educational arm of the Society, is hosting a series of webinars on practical thrombosis and hemostasis issues that scientists and physicians frequently confront. These webinars are led by notable experts in the field and allot time for participants to ask questions and cover the latest information on relevant topics. Our Reach-the-World Fellowship Program gives junior clinicians and researchers from developing countries the opportunity to study at host institutes known for their expertise in thrombosis and haemostasis.

The program aims to promote knowledge and expertise in one or all of the areas of medical care, laboratory methods and/or research. As part of the program, we provide fellows with financial support for travel, accommodation and living expenses for a fellowship period of up to four months. 

 

Who Can Apply

Applicants must be:

  • An MD or PhD
  • 39 years old or younger
  • ISTH member
  • Able to read, write and speak in English or in the primary language used at the host institute
  • From an academic institute in a developing country and not affiliated with a commercial pharmaceutical or other biomedical company
  • Able to show a publishing record in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis

How to Apply

To apply, send the following documents to the ISTH Headquarters via fax (+1-919-929-3935) or e-mail (education@isth.org) by January 1 or June 1 of each year:

An application form filled out by the applicant and the Director of the host institute

A Curriculum Vitae listing the applicant’s work, publications and presentations

A letter from the Director of the applicant’s home institute that:

  • Recommends the applicant
  • Explains the objective/s of the fellowship
  • Describes the applicant’s achievements
  • Describes the potential long-term benefits of the fellowship to the applicant’s home institute

A letter from the Director of the host institute that:

  • Explains the objective/s of the fellowship
  • Describes the program of training, including timelines, in detail
  • Offers to help the applicant find suitable accommodations

An ad-hoc subcommittee appointed by the ISTH Education and Outreach Committee approves fellowship applications on a competitive basis.
